Monique Murphy

Monique started translating manga and Japanese song lyrics as a hobby at the age of 16, and majored in Japanese language and culture in college. As a senior, she won her department's translation prize, and spent two years after graduation freelance translating from time to time. As a graduate student in linguistics, she entered the Manga Translation Battle with a translation of some excerpts from Kiriko Kubo's "The Children Nowadays" and was the winner in 2016. She then translated all 8 volumes of "The Children Nowadays." Today, she’s a software engineer, but she still loves to translate as a hobby.
