He started translating two years ago in Manga Translation Battle Vol. 5 as a way of practicing Japanese outside of the classroom. He didn’t make the finals that year but learned some valuable lessons along the way. The next year, he graduated college with a Japanese minor, worked as a freelance translator, and entered MTB Vol. 6 to see how far he’d come in that time. While he did win, there was still definitely room for improvement in his translation. He looks forward to demonstrating what he’s learned since then in the Manga Translation Battle of Professionals.
